Hwy 520 Causeway at the Hubert
Humphrey Bridge, Merritt Island
FROM US Hwy 1 at SR-520, go east
0.7 miles just over the Humbert Humphrey Bridge. Turn back
to the SR-520 westbound lane. The park entrance is on the westbound
lane and the exit is on the eastbound lane.
Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark.
This 8.5-acre community river park is a picturesque
gateway to Merritt Island. Landscaped with native trees and plants,
paved pathways and winding boardwalks along the Indian River
feature small picnic shelters and restroom on the south side.
The concrete fishing pier features benches making it ideal for
viewing evening sunsets.

Kelly Park-East
2550 N Banana River Drive, Merritt

Parks Referendum Project
FROM US Hwy 1 go 5.3 miles east on
SR-528 then right at the N. Banana Drive exit. The park is
along the river on the left.
Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark,
except for scheduled use. Boat ramp open 24 hours a day.
This 15.37-acre community river park
and internationally recognized windsurfing area on the Banana
River features a natural catamaran / sailboard launch area
with sandy beach and shower, boat ramps with dock, and adjacent
parking for cars and boat trailers. Near a small scenic lagoon,
a paved walkway connects a mid-size pavilion, 5 grills, restrooms,
drinking fountains and recreation amenities. Two small pavilions
and picnic tables provide picnicking by the river’s
edge. With the waterfront view and facilities attracting
numerous group gatherings through the spring and summer season,
advanced reservations are recommended.

Located on the west side of Banana River
Drive just south of Kelly Park-West, this 40.93-acre community
park offers multiuse
fields with concession facility, a boardwalk and small fishing
pier on a 2.48-acre brackish lake, and paved walkway around
the park perimeter. The playground, basketball court, restrooms,
drinking fountain pavilion and 5 grills add convenience for
organized youth athletics at this park. The Parks Referendum

FROM US Hwy 1, take SR-528 east 2.7 miles, turn left onto Courtenay
Parkway (SR-3) and go 3.1 miles.Turn right and go 0.9 miles
on Chase Hammock.
Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark.
This 240-acre community river park is primarily a wetland preserve
and haven for freshwater fishing. The small developed area
at the northeast corner of the park features a multiuse field
and paved parking that accommodates practice games and neighborhood
play. A deep freshwater lake adjacent to the parking area offers
a natural ramp for non-motorized boats. Another small lake,
a canoe trail and rustic nature trails invite exploration for
the adventurous.

FROM US Hwy 1, go east 3.2 miles on SR-520. Turn into the park
complex at the light just east of Sykes Creek Parkway.
Park open after 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Center open Monday-Friday
8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00-6:00 p.m., and for scheduled
use.
Office open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Boat ramp
open 24 hours.
The Merritt Island/Beaches Parks Operations
office is located at this 18.38-acre community river park.
Situated in a wildlife
sanctuary, the park caters to both active and passive recreational
enthusiasts. The boat ramp and a natural launch area provide
access for boaters, rowers and paddlers into Sykes Creek leading
to the Barge Canal or Banana River. Fishing is popular from
the shoreline and fishing dock. An exercise trail, softball
fields, basketball, tennis and racquetball courts invite fitness
and active play.
The Community Center features
ongoing activities, a gymnasium, a small kitchen and meeting
rooms. Another meeting room and
a banquet sized kitchen are located at the event pavilion.
Additional facilities that make this park attractive for group
gatherings and community events include the Karen S. Rood Community Building (with kitchen and meeting room) located at the park entrance, the Doyle I. Carlton Pavilion (with banquet kitchen and meeting room), 3
small pavilions, a playground, benches, restrooms, and drinking
