Parks with Community Centers and Athletic Facilities are open after dark for scheduled activities. Operating hours for Community Centers and Nature Centers may be obtained by contacting the specific facility.

Boat Ramps are open 24 hours a day.

Lori Wilson Park

Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark, except for scheduled use

This 32.43-acre regional beach park featuring a maritime hammock is a popular site for events and group gatherings. The dunes and maritime hammock allow visitors to experience Florida’s natural coastline. Beach attractions include 3 pavilions along a 1,000’ boardwalk, 6 dune crossovers, seasonal lifeguards, nearby concessions, and surf fishing. Restrooms, outdoor showers, drinking fountains, and parking lots are conveniently located on both the north and south sides of the hammock. Two medium pavilions, grills, a playground, an open grassy area, and a sand volleyball court are located on the north side. A grassy area and picnic tables are on the south side.

The 3,155’ interpretive boardwalk at the Maritime Hammock is accessed from the north parking lot, or by paved walkway from the south parking lot. For more information visit:

Manatee Cove Park

FROM US Hwy 1, go east 2.7 miles on SR-528 to the SR-3 Exit, then left onto Courtenay Parkway (SR-3) and go 3 miles. Turn left on Porcher Road, go 0.4 miles, then right on North Tropical Trail and go 0.2 miles to the park entrance.

Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark, except for scheduled use.

This 29.49-acre community river park is a fisherman’s retreat. An access road extends from an equestrian facility at the park entrance to a small lagoon that offers refuge for manatees and a launch site for canoes. A natural trail around the lagoon provides access for shoreline fishing. Parks Referendum improvements include a playground, benches, picnic tables and grill located in a shaded area. FROM SR-520 and 0.2 miles east of Banana River Drive, turn north onto Milford Point Drive and go 0.2 miles.

Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark.

Landscaping and a small gazebo create a restful atmosphere at this .14-acre neighborhood river park that features a swing, picnic tables, grills, and shoreline fishing.

FACILITY USE: First come, first served. Please be courteous.

MILA Elementary School

FROM SR-520 go north 0.3 miles on Courtenay Parkway (SR-3), turn left on West Merritt Avenue and go 0.2 miles.

Open after school hours and weekends until dark, except for scheduled use.

Home of Merritt Island Lassie League and North Merritt Island Little League, athletic facilities include softball fields, baseball fields, a T-ball field, 2 batting cages, restroom/ concession buildings and parking. Mitchell Ellington Park

FROM US Hwy 1, take SR-528 east 2.7 miles, turn left onto Courtenay Parkway (SR-3) and go 1.8 miles.Turn left on Hall Road. The park site is on the left.

Under development.

Acquisition and development of this 114-acre sports complex are through the Parks Referendum. Design features include 2 lighted football fields with restroom/concession /meeting; softball fields with restroom/ concession; baseball fields with restroom/ concession; 6 soccer/multiuse fields; 2 lighted regulation soccer with restroom/concession; playground, benches, pedway, lighted tennis courts, pavilions, and a maintenance facility. Construction of Phase I commences late 2004. The new complex will be home to Merritt Island Senior Little League, Merritt Island Youth Football & Cheerleading Association, and Central Brevard Soccer Association.
