Preserving sand dunes and sea grasses, this scenic 6.99-acre community beach park in a neighborhood setting invites beach activities. Amenities include restrooms, drinking fountain, outdoor showers, bench, family picnic shelter, 2 grills, 2 dune crossovers, and 2 sheltered picnic areas at either end of a 200’ boardwalk along the dunes.

This 19.39-acre community park features a Community Center with gymnasium, kitchen and meeting rooms. A wide range of educational programs, a computer lab, and Department sponsored special interest activities are scheduled at this facility which was developed with funds from Community Development Block Grants. Outdoor amenities include a softball field with concession, multiuse field, basketball court, tennis courts, sheltered shuffleboard courts, pavilion and picnic shelter with grill, and a playground.

A .72-acre neighborhood park located in the Savannahs Golf Course community, it features two tennis courts, a small playground, an exercise station, gazebo, picnic table and grill.

This 42.68-acre sports complex features adult softball, youth baseball, and youth football, and is the home of Cocoa Little League. It has concession buildings and press boxes ideal for tournament play, and features competition horseshoe pits. Restrooms and a picnic shelter add convenience.

F. Burton Smith Regional Park

FROM I-95 go 3 miles west on SR-520, turn left into the park.

This expansive 1,080-acre scenic park is a popular venue for large group picnics and community events. The hardwood hammock, pastureland, prairie and wetland ecosystems inspire nature and wildlife enthusiasts, while the park amenities invite group activities. With a view toward a small nature lake, the event pavilion with kitchen, and 2 small pavilions and grills beside a larger lake are near a playground and restrooms. A family picnic shelter and individual picnic tables are around the lake, with volleyball facilities nearby. The large lake features a natural canoe launch (fishing is welcomed there and in the tributaries, although swimming is not allowed). A rustic tent camping site and woodland nature trail are on the south side of the lake. Another trail with botanical markers is located near the large pavilion.

Intracoastal Waterway Park

Hwy 520 Causeway at the Hubert Humphrey Bridge, Merritt Island
FROM US Hwy 1 at SR-520, go east 0.7 miles just over the Humbert Humphrey Bridge. Turn back to the SR-520 westbound lane. The park entrance is on the westbound lane and the exit is on the eastbound lane.

Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark.

This 8.5-acre community river park is a picturesque gateway to Merritt Island. Landscaped with native trees and plants, paved pathways and winding boardwalks along the Indian River feature small picnic shelters and restroom on the south side. The concrete fishing pier features benches making it ideal for viewing evening sunsets.

James G. Bourbeau Memorial Park

FROM the I-95 Exit-201, go west 5 miles on SR-520. The park is located along the St. Johns River next to Lone Cabbage Fish Camp.

Boat ramps open 24 hours a day.

A gateway to excellent bass fishing on the St. Johns River, this 194.54-acre community river park provides a staging area for many fishing tournaments. Facilities include a boat ramp and dock, restrooms, a pavilion barbecue grill, and parking for 115 cars and boat trailers. It features additional facilities across the highway at the 31.65-acre Leroy Wright Recreation Area.

This 15.37-acre community river park and internationally recognized windsurfing area on the Banana River features a natural catamaran / sailboard launch area with sandy beach and shower, boat ramps with dock, and adjacent parking for cars and boat trailers. Near a small scenic lagoon, a paved walkway connects a mid-size pavilion, 5 grills, restrooms, drinking fountains and recreation amenities. Two small pavilions and picnic tables provide picnicking by the river’s edge. With the waterfront view and facilities attracting numerous group gatherings through the spring and summer season, advanced reservations are recommended.

This 240-acre community river park is primarily a wetland preserve and haven for freshwater fishing. The small developed area at the northeast corner of the park features a multiuse field and paved parking that accommodates practice games and neighborhood play. A deep freshwater lake adjacent to the parking area offers a natural ramp for non-motorized boats. Another small lake, a canoe trail and rustic nature trails invite exploration for the adventurous.

This 32.43-acre regional beach park featuring a maritime hammock is a popular site for events and group gatherings. The dunes and maritime hammock allow visitors to experience Florida’s natural coastline. Beach attractions include 3 pavilions along a 1,000’ boardwalk, 6 dune crossovers, seasonal lifeguards, nearby concessions, and surf fishing. Restrooms, outdoor showers, drinking fountains, and parking lots are conveniently located on both the north and south sides of the hammock. Two medium pavilions, grills, a playground, an open grassy area, and a sand volleyball court are located on the north side. A grassy area and picnic tables are on the south side.

This 11.55-acre community river park is a popular boat launch site. Along with the boat ramps, several other amenities make it an attractive recreational area. A pavilion, grills, picnic tables, restrooms, playground, and benches are connected by a paved walkway, while a boardwalk adjacent to the boat docks extends to Cocoa Riverfront Park and Historic Cocoa Village. Taylor Park Rockledge

1292 Florida Avenue, Rockledge
FROM US Hwy 1 at Barton Blvd, go north 0.5 miles and go right onto Florida Avenue, then immediately right on either Palmway S or Palmway N (there is parking on both of these streets).

Open after 7:00 a.m. until dark, except for scheduled use.

A decorative arched entranceway at the juncture of Florida Avenue and US Hwy 1 is a landmark at this 3.06-acre community park. Shaded by old oaks, the small pavilion, scattered picnic tables, benches, paved walkway, playground and basketball court make this park convenient for neighborhood get-togethers. A sensory garden adorns the site of the mausoleum of park donors, Albert and Grace Taylor.

Travis Park

FROM SR-520, go north 2.2 miles on Clearlake Rd, turn left just past Brevard Community College onto Michigan Avenue and go 0.2 miles.

Park open after 7:00 a.m. until dark except for scheduled use.

Center open Monday-Thursday 3:00-8:00 p.m., Friday 3:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and for scheduled use.

The community center, affectionately known as Tiger Den due to its proximity to Cocoa High School, is the focal point of this 2.5-acre community park. The gymnasium and small activity rooms make it a popular site for basketball, special interest activities and summer day camp. The park grounds include a half basketball court and sand volleyball courts, a playground and picnic shelter. Additionally, a 1-mile paved nature trail around Clear Lake extends from Travis Park to the Brevard Museum.

Ulumay Wildlife Sanctuary

This 436.53-acre bird reservation and sanctuary offers a wilderness escape in an urban environment and is an international attraction for bird-watchers. Historically documented as a village of the Ais Indians who disappeared around 1720, it is a natural lagoon and bird rookery linked with canals created for mosquito control and surrounded by a manmade dike. A trail on the dike provides access to the waterways for the fisherman, birdwatchers, and paddlers. A birdwatching tower offers a scenic overlook of the lagoon. Projecting into Sykes Creek at the southwest corner of the park is a fishing pier commonly known as the Old Humpbacked Troll Bridge. Although troll sightings are rumored, visitors are likely to view dolphin and birds such as the wood stork, belted kingfisher, and white or brown pelican. Alligator dormant season is October through May, however, visitors are advised to be cautious year-round.

FROM US Hwy 1, go east at the Barton Blvd and immediately left on Seminole Drive. Go 0.4 miles to Valencia Road, turn right and go 0.3 miles to the river.

Extending into the Indian River at the east end of Orange Avenue, this .1-acre river park is a scenic neighborhood fishing pier with 2 benches.

A 335’ lighted boardwalk and benches along the waterfront invite scenic viewing and fishing.

Watts Park

This partially shaded 2.07-acre neighborhood river park at Sykes Creek is an active spot for half-court basketball, casual tennis and volleyball. The pavilion, gazebo, picnic tables, 2 grills, bench, drinking fountain, paved walkway and playground make it a convenient site for neighborhood get-togethers. Waterfront access invites shoreline fishing.

FROM SR-520 go 1.8 miles north on Courtenay Parkway/SR-3, turn left on Alma Blvd, go 0.4 miles. The park entrance is on the right just after the road curves right and becomes Schoolhouse Street.

Park open after 7:00 a.m. until dark except for scheduled use.

Center open Monday-Thursday 3:00-8:00 p.m., Friday 3:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and for scheduled use.

This 12-acre community park is a hub of activity. A portion of the Community Center is operated by the Child Care Association, while the gymnasium, kitchen, and meeting rooms are scheduled for weekly activities, community events and group gatherings. A computer lab constructed as a Parks Referendum Project is available for community access. The park grounds include a shaded area, an open grassy area, a paved walkway to playground and small pavilion with sink and grill, benches, drinking fountain, and softball field. Referendum Project renovation of the basketball courts to multiuse tennis/basketball courts.

Parks with Community Centers and Athletic Facilities are open after dark for scheduled activities. Operating hours for Community Centers and Nature Centers may be obtained by contacting the specific facility.

Boat Ramps are open 24 hours a day.
